The Society is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Inland Revenue Code.
The purpose is to bring together those who have a common interest in local history so that they may find enjoyment through their association and mutual encouragement in their particular interest in this field.
It is also to assist people of Braintree and others, through greater knowledge of local and national history, to become more aware of the value of their American heritage and take pride in their community’s part in its development.
The Roman philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero said, “History is the witness that testifies to the passing of time; it illuminates reality; vitalizes memory; provides guidance in daily life and brings us tidings of antiquity.”
In a town so rich in history and in sense of place as Braintree, making that history accessible to all those interested in Braintree and available at the click of mouse is a worthy goal.
