Our guests appreciate the combination of classic and rustic ambiance and often choose to incorporate guided tours of the General Sylvanus Thayer Birthplace (an eighteenth century example of a middle-class home) , our exhibition space and/or our extensive historical collections.

RENTAL SPACE

The Gilbert Bean Barn and Mary Bean Cunningham Resource Center
Located at 31 Tenney Road, Braintree (access via Washington street opposite Braintree Town Hall). In 1975, Braintree Historical Society erected
a colonial style barn as a complimentary addition to the General Sylvanus Thayer Birthplace. The post and beam construction of the Barn is consistent with that of early American structures of its style. The Barn houses artifacts that would typically have been used in colonial America and in later periods. The main level of this building houses the Society's library and resource center and contains genealogical information on many prominent Braintree families.
The combined spaces are suitable for business meetings and cocktail/standing receptions as well as classroom style gatherings for day or evening events.

The combined rooms capacity of 150 standing,  60 theater/classroom  style, or 50 for a sit-down meal, are suitable for  business presentations and conferences as well as personal celebrations such as anniversaries, graduation parties, birthdays and rehearsal dinners.

For additional information about hosting an event, please contact our Events Manager, Robert Harris by email at braintreehistoricalevents@gmail.com or call us at 781-848-1640.
